FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD, 2024
The artwork explores the intricate connection between women and food within the context of societal attitudes, social media, and image. In contemporary media landscape, mounting concerns arise regarding the impact of pervasive imagery on body image, self-esteem, and the development of unhealthy relationships with food.
Photographies depicting women (the artist herself), consuming different types of food. The objectification of women extends beyond mere appearance, infiltrating activities such as eating. When society views women primarily as objects for consumption, it profoundly influences their representation in various contexts.
The artist critically examines how media influences perceptions and behaviors, particularly regarding the portrayal of women and their relationship with food. When did the innocent image of a donut become sexualized? When did a woman in a buttoned-up shirt become objectified?
